Introduction:
UCHealth is undertaking a significant expansion of Memorial Hospital North to address the increasing healthcare demands of the local community. The first phase of the expansion will include the addition of more operating rooms, as well as a new inpatient tower featuring 36 new medical-surgical beds and 14 ICU beds. A six-level parking garage will also be constructed to provide ample space for patients, visitors, and staff.
Features:
The project involves the development of approximately 330,000 square feet of new space, with 45% of the area set for immediate use and the remainder left as shelled space for future expansion.
This additional space will support the ongoing growth of the hospital’s cancer center, enabling the introduction of clinical trials and advanced treatments.
A new six-story inpatient tower will expand the hospital’s bed capacity from 140 to 190, with the potential for up to 320 beds.
Four new operating rooms in the first phase, with plans for an additional four in future phases, bringing the total to 18 ORs, an expanded kitchen and dining area for patients, visitors, and staff, laboratory expansion, space for 12 additional emergency department exam rooms and future expansion of imaging services.
The main lobby will also be renovated to accommodate the new tower, and a 979-stall parking garage will be constructed to ensure sufficient parking for everyone.
The completion is expected by 2027 and the opening for patients is in 2029.
