Introduction:

Northwell Health plans to invest US$500 million to increase the services and quality of care to the residents of Suffolk County. South Shore University Hospital (SSUH) was formerly known as Southside Hospital.

Features:

The construction of the new project features a women and infants center and a medical pavilion.

A US$500 million, part of five-year investment includes the construction of a new US$71 million, 45,560-square-foot dedicated for Women & Infants. Moreover, SSUH also plans to invest US$441 million to construct a medical pavilion including additional private inpatient beds and operating rooms.

The construction of the two-story facility doubles the size of the existing Caesarean section rooms to four thereby adding 29 private rooms for women and thus allowing their babies to comfortably bond after delivery. In addition, the new facility consists of its own dedicated entrance and an advanced, 16-bay Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) which increases the number of recovery areas.

Construction of the project is expected to complete its construction by the end of 2022.
