Introduction

Grady Health System has announced plans to invest US$1 billion in the development of a new medical campus in South Fulton County, aimed at expanding access to healthcare services and reducing pressure on existing facilities. The project is part of the organisation’s long-term strategy to meet rising healthcare demand and strengthen care delivery across the region.

Features

The project will be delivered in phases, beginning with the construction of a medical office complex offering diagnostic imaging, an ambulatory surgery centre, specialist clinics, pharmacy services, rehabilitation care, and a dedicated floor for paediatric patients.

A key element of the development will be a 200-bed acute care hospital featuring critical care, intermediate care, and general acute care units. The hospital is expected to operate as a Level 3 trauma centre, providing emergency treatment and stabilisation services for patients requiring further specialised care.

The campus will also include a freestanding emergency department that is currently under construction and will later be integrated into the hospital facility.

The full hospital is scheduled for completion by 2031.
