Introduction:

Cleveland Clinic has announced a significant $340 million expansion of its Avon campus, which encompasses Avon Hospital and the Richard E. Jacobs Family Health Center. This initiative is part of a broader effort to address the increasing healthcare demands of the surrounding communities.

Features:

The expansion of Avon Hospital will include the construction of a new inpatient bed tower to enhance patient capacity and support growing healthcare needs.

Plans also feature the addition of operating theatres, an expanded emergency department, and increased space for laboratory and imaging services. 

The hospital, which opened in 2016 as a five-storey facility with 126 beds, has experienced a steady rise in patient demand over the past nine years.

It currently provides a wide range of services such as radiology, a pharmacy, a laboratory, cardiac catheterisation, intensive care, and stroke treatment.

The expansion will include approximately 90 new examination rooms and increased capacity for cancer services, including radiation oncology. 
A new multi-storey car park will also be built on the campus to improve access for patients, staff, and visitors.

Construction for the Avon expansion is set to start in 2026, with the new facilities anticipated to be finished by 2028.
