Introduction:
Baptist Health System broke ground on its new $50 million institute dedicated to orthopedic innovation which will be housed at North Central Baptist Hospital.
Features:
The new three-story, 76,800 square foot building will offer patient-centered orthopedic care that address the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system, including:
- • Joint replacement and arthritis
- • Sports medicine injuries
- • Arthroscopic surgery
- • Spine treatment
- • Care and surgery of the shoulder, elbow, hand, wrist, knee, foot and ankle
The building will transform the façade of NCBH, creating a new hospital entrance off of Madison Oak. Its design will be unlike any in San Antonio with a hotel-like experience focused on patient comfort and healing. Slated for completion in fall 2016, the building will house an 18-bed pre-operation unit, a 15-bed post-anesthesia care unit; 10 operation and recovery rooms and a 30-bed inpatient unit. Upon opening, the new orthopedic institute will offer patients additional services including:
- • Hand therapy and physical therapy
- • Industrial rehabilitation
- • Worker’s comp
- • Digital imaging
- • Outpatient surgery
- • Orthopedic urgent care
