Sutter Health Expands Access to Urgent and Primary Care, Lab and Advanced Imaging with New Rohnert Park Care Center

3 April 2025

Sutter Health is expanding access to healthcare in southern Sonoma County with the opening of a new care center in Rohnert Park. The new facility, located at 6000 State Farm Drive, will offer a full spectrum of services, including primary and urgent care, advanced imaging and comprehensive lab testing. This expansion is part of Sutter’s commitment to bringing high-quality, integrated healthcare closer to home for more Northern California residents.

“Rohnert Park is a growing community and we’re excited to open this new primary and urgent care to grow along with it,” said Erin Neal, ambulatory CEO of Sutter’s Greater San Francisco Division. “By increasing Sutter’s presence in Rohnert Park, especially for high demand services like lab and imaging, we’re helping more people receive timely, coordinated care in a modern setting designed for convenience and efficiency.”

Expanding Services and Provider Access

The Rohnert Park Care Center is designed to provide a wide range of healthcare services under one roof, helping to meet the growing demand for accessible, high-quality care in the region. The center features:

  • Primary care: Comprehensive healthcare for all ages
  • Urgent care: Walk-in treatment with extended hours and weekend availability
  • Specialized services: Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT), with plans to expand specialty offerings in the future
  • Diagnostic services: On-site X-ray, CT and ultrasound
  • Lab services: Convenient onsite lab testing for faster results

The new 17,000-square-foot care center includes 24 exam rooms (16 primary care, 8 urgent care) and two procedure rooms. It will be staffed by seven primary care physicians from the Sutter Medical Group of the Redwoods, along with a dedicated team of advanced practice clinicians, nurses and support staff.

“This investment in Rohnert Park is about bringing more local physicians and advanced practice clinicians into the community so people and families can flourish and lead healthier lives,” said Dr. Michael Magnotti, CEO of Sutter Medical Group of the Redwoods. “We’re committed to helping ensure patients have a trusted care team close to come, so they can easily access the right care and services when needed. Plus, having imaging and lab services on-site is a big benefit, as it means faster results for both patients and clinicians, helping them make informed decisions more quickly.”

As part of Sutter’s broader strategy to increase access to high-quality care, the Rohnert Park Care Center is one of the first in a plan to open 19 urgent care locations across Northern California by 2028.

By providing same-day, high-quality care, the Rohnert Park Care Center aims to reduce strain on local emergency departments while ensuring patients receive timely treatment for non-life-threatening conditions.

“As the city of Rohnert Park continues to grow, the opening of this new care center is a significant step forward in meeting the healthcare needs of our community,” said Rohnert Park Mayor Gerard Giudice. “We are thrilled that Sutter Health is expanding its services here, providing our residents with greater access to high-quality care in a convenient, state-of-the-art facility. This new center will not only enhance healthcare delivery but also contribute to the well-being of our entire community, ensuring that families can receive the care they need close to home.”

A Unified Approach to Patient Care

The Rohnert Park center reflects Sutter’s updated design and patient experience standards, ensuring a consistent level of care across all its facilities. Designed with patient convenience in mind, the center offers a welcoming environment, streamlined check-in processes and artwork created by Julie Coyle Art Associates in collaboration with curator Nancy Witherell to enhance the overall care experience.

In the Urgent Care lobby, visitors are greeted by a collection of notable signs from around Rohnert Park, alongside a mural featuring native Sonoma County plants – giving the space a distinctly local feel. Each exam room showcases artwork depicting familiar regional scenes, such as Taylor Mountain, the Green Music Center and Crane Creek. Local artist Bob Nugent also contributed two large-scale tapestries to the space.

Sutter locations nearby include Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital, 13 miles away. On April 3, family medicine providers from Sutter’s 5300 Snyder Lane location will transition to the new care center at 6000 State Farm Drive.

Sutter invested nearly $17 million in transforming 6000 State Farm Drive – formerly a Pac Bell call center – into this modern healthcare facility. Layton Construction led the project, which was completed in just eight months.
