Mawi DNA Technologies a medical device company focused on developing innovative technologies for biosampling, announced today that the company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding  with Morocco's Ministry of Investments , Convergence and Public Policy Evaluation and signed with the Moroccan Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC) to establish a joint venture with Mawi's regional partner BIOTESSIAto set up a state-of-the-art production facility in Morocco to serve the African market. The new operation will help meet Africa's need for healthcare sovereignty and accessibility and Morocco was chosen as the location as it can also act as a launch base to serve European markets.

This, in turn, improves the potential health outcomes due to greater diversity in sample availability."

Mawi has developed iSWAB-Microbiome-EL, a product that is widely used worldwide in population-scale surveillance testing of infectious diseases, particularly Covid-19 and its variants, due to its unique properties of viral inactivation, non-toxic emergence and enabling Laboratories to eliminate the RNA isolation step, reduce costs and increase sample throughput. Mawi also has a broad portfolio of iSWAB sampling technologies for mammalian DNA, RNA and intact cells and microbiomes (faecal, dirt, surface and skin) in addition to HemaSure-OMICS whole blood sampling technology covering RNA, CTC, cfDNA and genomic DNA can isolate from a single sample.
