Versiti Blood Center of Ohio Acquires Solvita Blood Center to Enhance Lifesaving Services
5 November 2024
Versiti Blood Center of Ohio has announced the acquisition of Solvita Blood Center, formerly known as Community Blood Center. This strategic move aims to strengthen Versiti's presence in Ohio and enhance its commitment to providing lifesaving resources to the Dayton area and its surrounding communities.
With this expansion, Versiti Blood Center of Ohio will improve its ability to support healthcare providers across the state. Since 2019, Versiti has supplied over 60,000 blood products each year to patients at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. The centre is dedicated to serving Dayton and 18 nearby counties, ensuring that urgent healthcare needs are met.
Building on the foundation laid by Community Blood Center in 1964, Versiti will continue the mission of Solvita Blood Center to deliver lifesaving products to the local community, effective from November 5, 2024. This acquisition only affects Solvita Blood Center, while Solvita will maintain ownership of its global tissue services based in Dayton and Kettering Research Park.
Maintaining community relations and preserving jobs are important priorities during this transition. Versiti is committed to integrating all existing Solvita Blood Center employees into the new organisation.
Versiti Blood Center of Ohio will retain a donation centre in Dayton and will continue to offer blood donation services through mobile blood drives in the region. The organisation looks forward to working with Solvita's long-standing hospital partners and local donors.
Residents of the Dayton area who wish to donate blood can schedule an appointment by calling (937) 461-3220 or by visiting the Versiti Blood Center of Ohio website at http://www.versitidayton.org/.
