Texas Children's Pavilion for Women Announces Opening of New Medical Tower

Texas Children's Hospital is delighted to announce the commencement of patient operations at its newly inaugurated medical tower, Pavilion for Women Tower II. This marks a significant step forward in the $245 million expansion project of Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women within the Texas Medical Center. The freshly constructed tower, connected to the Pavilion for Women through an innovative sky bridge, is home to women’s services outpatient clinics, housing esteemed names such as The Women’s Specialists of Houston, Partners in OB/GYN Care, and Women’s Physical Therapy.

Having witnessed robust growth in the influx of patients seeking labor and delivery services since its inception a decade ago, the Pavilion for Women has embarked on the next phase of expansion, which entails augmenting the hospital bed capacity within the Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women.

Dr. Michael Belfort, OB/GYN-in-Chief at Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women and Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine, noted, “This significant milestone underscores Texas Children's Hospital's unwavering commitment to women's health. For the first time in the nation, a children's hospital has embraced the entirety of women's healthcare needs from birth to menopause."

Renowned for its leadership in exceptional pregnancy care, the hospital's scope has broadened to encompass comprehensive care for women throughout their life journey. The Pavilion for Women boasts a diverse range of specialties, including pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery, menopause treatment, maternal fetal medicine care, the Texas Children’s Fetal Center, reproductive psychiatry, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, and minimally invasive gynecology surgery.

The Baylor Obstetrics and Gynecology unit is set to transition to the new tower by the culmination of 2023. Concurrently, the enhancement of adult inpatient and neonatal intensive care bed capacity at the Pavilion for Women is slated for completion in 2024.
