Teladoc Health Enhances AI Solutions with Virtual Monitoring System for Hospitals
26 November 2024
Teladoc Health, a global leader in virtual care, has introduced enhanced AI-powered capabilities for its Virtual Sitter solution. The update aims to improve patient safety, address staffing shortages, and enhance care delivery for hospitals and healthcare systems.
Each year, nearly one million patients in hospitals experience falls, with over 30% leading to serious injuries. These incidents result in significant healthcare costs, estimated at $50 billion annually, and place additional strain on already burdened hospitals.
The upgraded Virtual Sitter solution uses artificial intelligence to allow a single remote staff member to monitor up to 25% more patients, increasing efficiency for inpatient teams.
This enhancement is part of Teladoc Health’s wider range of connected care solutions designed to support virtual nursing, physician consultations, interpretation services, and other hybrid care activities. These tools aim to reduce the administrative workload for on-site staff, enhancing overall patient and clinician satisfaction.
The updated system uses advanced motion detection and posture analysis to identify movements that may lead to falls, enabling faster intervention. Integrated within Teladoc Health’s TV Pro devices, the AI technology operates locally, ensuring secure processing of Protected Health Information (PHI) and optimising system performance.
The improved Virtual Sitter solution is now commercially available and has been adopted by select clients. This launch reinforces Teladoc Health’s commitment to using innovative technologies to transform care delivery and support hospitals in addressing critical challenges.
