Tampa General Hospital Implements ThinkAndor® Virtual Hospital

13 September 2023

Tampa General Hospital (TGH) is taking strides to enhance its culture of innovation in delivering world-class healthcare by implementing Andor Health's ThinkAndor® Virtual Hospital within its inpatient setting.

ThinkAndor®, powered by AI, consolidates multiple endpoints into a unified dashboard or connects seamlessly with TGH's electronic medical record (EMR). This innovative platform empowers TGH care teams to facilitate provider-to-provider consultations and host multidisciplinary calls. Moreover, it offers the capability to include family members, caregivers, and friends in virtual discussions. The Andor platform's future developments will incorporate features such as alerts for fall risk, elopement, and patient movement.

This versatile platform is also instrumental in remotely monitoring a patient's clinical progress and connecting specialists for on-demand consultations. Upcoming enhancements include the ability to capture patients' self-reported information to inform care team actions and recommendations.

Tampa General Hospital currently utilizes ThinkAndor in its Medical ICU and is actively expanding its application in the medical/surgical environment. Jason Swoboda, director of Innovation at Tampa General, highlights, "Virtually enabling the patient room creates opportunities for the entire team to deliver world-class care in an innovative hybrid manner." The initiative begins with virtual nursing and will soon extend to other care team members.

Tampa General opted for ThinkAndor® Virtual Hospital to effectively observe and interact with patients while optimizing resource utilization. Incorporating virtual team members into patient care offers significant advantages for the academic health system's staff. Through the virtualization of these capabilities, Tampa General seeks to enhance both the patient experience and the working environment for clinicians, providers, and ancillary teams.

Dr. Nishit Patel, professor in the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery in the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine, vice president of medical informatics for USF Tampa General Physicians, and vice president and chief medical informatics officer at Tampa General Hospital, emphasizes, "ThinkAndor® Virtual Hospital empowers our care teams with the ability to care for patients using the right clinical content and context remotely. This platform allows us to continuously observe at-risk patients from anywhere, at any time, driving a collaborative practice while improving overall patient outcomes."
