Subtle Medical Receives Phase II SBIR Funding to Extend SubtleSYNTH? Technology to Brain Imaging

5 September 2024

Subtle Medical, a leader in AI-driven medical imaging technology, has been awarded Phase II funding for its NIH SBIR grant to advance SubtleSYNTH™ technology.

This funding will support the extension of SubtleSYNTH™ into brain imaging, building on its recent success with synthetic STIR images for spinal imaging.

SubtleSYNTH™ has recently achieved FDA clearance to produce synthetic STIR images (SynthSTIRs) from T1 and T2 weighted contrasts previously acquired.

This innovation eliminates the need for additional acquisition time while preserving the clinical quality of traditional STIR images. SubtleSYNTH™ is part of Subtle Medical’s suite of FDA-cleared AI solutions, including SubtleMR™ and SubtlePET™.

The Phase II SBIR grant will enable the expansion of SubtleSYNTH™ into brain imaging, addressing a significant need in MRI technology. By leveraging deep learning to generate high-quality synthetic images without extra scan time, SubtleSYNTH™ aims to improve the efficiency and accuracy of MRI procedures.

This development is expected to benefit patients and imaging centers by reducing backlogs, wait times, and scheduling challenges.

The recent FDA clearance for spine imaging and the new Phase II SBIR grant highlight Subtle Medical’s commitment to advancing medical imaging through innovative AI solutions.
