Stryker Expands Mako Robotics Portfolio with Full U.S. Launch of Mako RPS

17 July 2026

Stryker has announced the full U.S. commercial launch of Mako RPS® (Robotic Power System) for total knee replacement procedures, expanding the Mako portfolio into a new category of orthopaedic robotics.

The launch introduces the Mako Handheld Robotics platform alongside Mako SmartRobotics™ with Mako 4, the company's robotic-arm assisted system for multiple orthopaedic procedures. Mako RPS is designed to provide surgeons with a handheld robotic solution that combines robotic technology with Stryker's expertise in surgical power tools.

The system has been developed to meet growing demand for flexible robotic-assisted surgical options. It offers surgeons a familiar operating experience while providing robotic guidance, helping to expand access to robotic technology across a wider range of healthcare settings.

Mako RPS is compatible with Stryker's Triathlon® Total Knee System and features intraoperative planning together with a robotically enabled surgical saw. The system uses active adjustment technology that responds to the surgeon's hand movements and helps maintain alignment with the planned procedure in real time. It also removes the need for traditional cutting blocks, allowing the technology to fit more easily into existing surgical workflows.

The platform is designed to work with Stryker's Q Guidance System, further strengthening the company's ecosystem of technologies for orthopaedic care.

Mako has been used in orthopaedic surgery for more than 20 years, with over 2.5 million procedures performed across 47 countries. The addition of Mako RPS further expands the company's robotic surgery portfolio and supports the wider adoption of robotic-assisted orthopaedic procedures.
