Smith+Nephew Introduces CORIOGRAPH for CORI Surgical System
13 June 2024
Smith+Nephew, a leading global medical technology company, has introduced its new CORIOGRAPH Pre-Operative Planning and Modeling Services.
This innovative solution is tailored for surgeons and patients undergoing partial and total knee arthroplasty procedures. It is designed exclusively for use with the CORI Surgical System, which is the only orthopaedic robotic-assisted platform offering both intraoperative image-free and image-based registration options.
Surgeons can choose whether to utilize a pre-operative MRI scan, providing flexibility in surgical planning.
Personalizing surgery to meet the unique needs of patients is crucial. Robotic-assisted surgery offers enhanced precision and reproducibility, potentially leading to improved patient outcomes compared to traditional techniques.
Chief of Knee Service at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, recently completed initial procedures using CORIOGRAPH and RI.KNEE ROBOTICS 3.0 Software.
"With RI.KNEE 3.0 and CORIOGRAPH services, we are advancing surgical personalization and operational efficiencies. The ability to choose the appropriate imaging modality represents a new era in personalized patient care, elevating orthopaedic robotics to new heights."
The CORI Surgical System integrates proprietary tools and AI-driven software, offering a comprehensive suite of solutions for joint arthroplasty procedures.
Leveraging over 15 years of clinical experience and more than 350,000 image-based surgery plans, CORIOGRAPH Pre-Operative Planning and Modeling Services serves as the starting point for optimizing procedures and enhancing intraoperative efficiencies.
It is complemented by features in the new RI.KNEE ROBOTICS 3.0 Software, including:
- Image-agnostic registration capabilities, supporting both image-based and image-free options.
- Enhanced knee functionality with support for pre-cut tensioning using the CORI Digital Tensioner, applicable to partial, total, and revision knees.
SVP of Global Marketing – Reconstruction and Robotics at Smith+Nephew, highlighted, "The introduction of CORIOGRAPH Pre-Operative Planning and Modeling Services marks a significant advancement in personalized surgery and the evolution of our robotics ecosystem.
Together with the CORI Digital Tensioner, this will further streamline efficiencies for robotic-assisted procedures."
This innovation underscores Smith+Nephew's commitment to advancing orthopaedic surgery through cutting-edge technology, aiming to deliver superior clinical outcomes and enhance patient satisfaction worldwide.
