Samsung Unveils New Ultrasound System 'V6' Blending Performance and Efficiency

14 November 2023

Boston Imaging, the U.S. hub for Samsung's digital radiography and ultrasound business, has unveiled its latest ultrasound system, the V6. This system offers comprehensive imaging capabilities in 2D, 3D, and color image quality, specifically tailored for Women's Health and Urology. Recently granted 510(k) clearance by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the V6 is designed to be cost-effective while meeting workflow and productivity needs, enhancing accessibility for healthcare providers.

The V6 utilizes Samsung's core imaging platform, Crystal Architecture™, to provide enhanced image clarity and advanced automated tools. Among its features is the miniER7 Endocavity Transducer, designed for patient comfort, wide-angle imaging, and a frequency range of 2-12 MHz. This transducer has demonstrated a significant reduction in patient discomfort during prostate ultrasounds without compromising image quality.

Additionally, the V6 incorporates AI features such as ViewAssist™, which automatically recognizes imaging planes and labels anatomy to streamline documentation and enhance exam workflow. The system also includes BiometryAssist™, a semi-automated feature based on Deep Learning for one-click fetal growth measurements, promoting exam consistency and reducing keystrokes.

UterineAssist™ is another AI technology tool that automatically measures the size and shape of the uterus, aiding in the detection of uterine-related abnormalities. The V6 further facilitates image-sharing through Mobile Export, allowing secure transfer of fetal images directly to the patient's smartphone via a QR code. Real-time communication for care guidance and training is enabled through SonoSync™, featuring voice and text chatting, as well as real-time marking functions.

The V6 has undergone rigorous evaluation for safety, including acoustic output, biocompatibility, software function, and cleaning effectiveness. It conforms to applicable FDA guidances and medical device safety standards and offers a range of transducers to meet diverse clinical needs. Notably, the system is compatible with Cycle Clarity's AI-based software platform, making it suitable for applications in reproductive endocrinology and infertility settings. Overall, the Samsung V6 ultrasound system stands out as a versatile and advanced imaging solution with a focus on Women's Health and Urology, incorporating innovative AI features for enhanced efficiency and diagnostic accuracy.
