OrthoPediatrics Expands Range of Specialty Braces with New Innovations

6 December 2024

OrthoPediatrics, a company dedicated to advancing paediatric orthopaedics, has announced the expansion of its Specialty Bracing (OPSB™) division with two new products: the OPSB Sensor System and the MOVE-D™ elbow brace.

The OPSB Sensor System introduces sensor technology to OrthoPediatrics' portfolio for the first time, aimed at enhancing brace monitoring. Developed with expertise from the company's subsidiary, Boston Orthotics & Prosthetics, this system builds on more than a decade of using thermal sensors in scoliosis braces.

Research has demonstrated a clear link between brace wear time and treatment success, as well as improved compliance when sensors are used. The OPSB Sensor System features Bluetooth connectivity, automatically transferring data to an interactive app that motivates wearers with rewards like stars and trophies for achieving wear goals.

The data is securely stored on a cloud platform, allowing healthcare providers remote access and the ability to generate detailed reports.

Additionally, OPSB has partnered with Innovation Lab to launch the MOVE-D™, a mechanical elbow brace designed to stabilise tremors in the dominant upper limb. This lightweight device is intended to support children with movement disorders by improving their ability to perform daily tasks.

These developments reflect OrthoPediatrics' ongoing commitment to introducing non-surgical solutions that benefit children with orthopaedic needs. By collaborating with key stakeholders and exploring innovative technologies, the company continues to expand its paediatric-focused product range.
