Nitto Denko Corporation, based in Osaka, Japan, has launched its Counseling System in selected regions of California starting September 2024. This service provides real-time analysis and visualization of a client’s physiological data, offering valuable insights to counselors and psychologists.

The Counseling System is a wearable device that monitors blood flow among other physiological changes translating them into stress levels through a proprietary algorithm.

This enables counselors to receive immediate feedback on client responses and the impact of counseling. Also, objective visual feedback on therapy progress can be beneficial to reinforce the value of counseling and encourage continued engagement.

According to mental health experts, there is an increasing emphasis written on Evidence-Based Practice hence the system is designed this way.

It caters for approximately 24.3 million people currently receiving counseling services along with 28.6 million others who might need it; given that the U.S counseling market was valued at around ¥178 trillion (April 2022) and has about 170000 qualified counselors according to recent statistics.
