MUSC Hollings Adopts MOLLI? 2 for Precision Breast Cancer Surgery

26 July 2024

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Hollings Cancer Center, an NCI-designated comprehensive academic health system and the only one of its kind in the state, is partnering with MOLLI Surgical to incorporate the MOLLI® 2 System.

This innovative technology, known for its wire-free and radiation-free method of localizing breast cancer lesions, has been praised by surgeons for its accuracy and ease of use, significantly enhancing the patient experience.

"They have chosen to use the MOLLI 2 System to offer our patients the most advanced and precise technology available.

The system provides instant feedback for lesion localization, improving both efficiency and accuracy.

Patients also benefit from having the MOLLI® Marker placed in advance, which eliminates the need for an additional procedure on the day of surgery."

The MOLLI 2 System is a significant advancement in breast cancer surgery. It allows radiologists to place the MOLLI Marker, a small device about the size of a sesame seed, up to 30 days before surgery.

This advance placement lets radiologists manage their time in the mammography suite without needing to coordinate with the surgical schedule. Surgeons then use the MOLLI® Wand and MOLLI® Tablet to accurately locate the marked lesion, removing the need for traditional wire-guided localization.

The system's directional 3D guidance ensures millimeter-level precision, making it a reliable and user-friendly tool that improves clinical efficiency and patient satisfaction.

"MUSC's unique position as the state's only comprehensive academic health system has a significant impact on the community. We are proud to collaborate with MUSC in providing advanced surgical solutions.

Their commitment to enhancing patient-centered breast cancer care is evident in their adoption of the MOLLI 2 System."

"The setup of the MOLLI 2 System was straightforward, allowing our physicians, OR staff, and radiology team to quickly integrate it into their workflow."

With the adoption of MOLLI 2, MUSC and MOLLI Surgical are demonstrating their commitment to advancing precision surgery, enhancing clinical efficiency, and improving both patient and physician experiences.
