Microsoft Expands Dragon Copilot AI to Support Nurses and Partners in Healthcare
17 October 2025
Microsoft Corp. has announced new AI enhancements for its clinical assistant, Dragon Copilot, designed to improve patient care, reduce administrative burden, and strengthen operational efficiency in healthcare. The updates include the first commercially available ambient AI experience tailored to nursing workflows and new capabilities allowing partners to integrate AI applications and agents directly into Dragon Copilot.
These advancements enable clinicians to access specialised tools and insights without leaving their workflow, supporting revenue cycle management, clinical decision-making, and care delivery. Nurses can now use ambient AI to streamline documentation, access trusted clinical content, and automate routine tasks, reducing administrative workload and allowing more focus on patient care.
Partner integrations expand Dragon Copilot’s capabilities further. Collaborations with Elsevier, UpToDate, Lightbeam Health Solutions, and others provide trusted clinical information, workflow automation, revenue cycle management, and patient engagement tools. Voice and contextual data from smart hospital and virtual care platforms can also be converted into workflow-aligned documentation.
Early adopters, including Baptist Health, are exploring these partner solutions to enhance diagnostics and care delivery while maintaining a unified, efficient workflow. The general availability of Microsoft’s healthcare agent service in Copilot Studio allows partners to build compliant, reliable solutions that integrate directly into Dragon Copilot.
Overall, these updates aim to improve care quality, reduce nurse burnout, and support clinicians with AI-driven tools designed to enhance patient outcomes across healthcare settings.
