Boston Imaging, the US headquarters of Samsung's digital radiography (DR) and ultrasound business, has recently announced a partnership with Lunit Inc., a prominent provider of AI-powered solutions for cancer diagnostics and treatments. This collaboration aims to revolutionize chest screenings, offering quicker and more accurate diagnoses to improve patient outcomes.

Samsung has signed a supply contract with Lunit Inc. to integrate Lunit's cutting-edge AI solutions into its digital radiology products. The Lunit INSIGHT CXR, an AI-powered chest X-ray analysis solution, and Lunit Insight CXR Triage, an FDA 510(k)-cleared AI triage solution, will complement Samsung's CAD (Computer Aided Detection) AI. Together, these technologies will assist radiologists in managing the increasing volume of patient exams by prioritizing cases with suspected abnormalities, such as pleural effusion or pneumothorax.

Through this collaboration, Samsung aims to enhance its flagship digital radiography products, including the GM85 and GC85A Vision models, with features like "Vision Assist" and AccE Glass Free Detector. By prioritizing innovation, Samsung seeks to improve patient experiences, simplify technologist workflows, and expedite diagnoses.

The Lunit AI solution software has been commercially available on Samsung digital radiology products since Q1 2024. As part of the collaboration, Samsung will continue to validate the AI solution's capabilities, including the detection of the ten most common abnormalities in chest X-rays, ranging from nodules to tuberculosis screening.
