JLK Obtains Patent for AI-Based System for Brain Region Classification
5 August 2024
JLK, led by CEO Dongmin Kim, recently secured a patent for its AI-driven brain region classification technology. This patent, granted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office, was achieved in collaboration with Seoul National University Hospital.
The technology utilizes artificial neural networks to analyze and classify MRI and CT brain images by specific regions.
It aligns the original brain images with a standardized 3D brain model and then restores each classified region to the original data.
This enables detailed classification of brain images and estimation of brain aging, aiding medical professionals in identifying lesion areas and predicting stroke outcomes, such as potential functional decline.
The new system is expected to complement JLK’s existing stroke AI solutions by integrating additional data points, such as stroke presence, type, lesion size, severity, vascular occlusion, and blood flow.
This integration aims to enhance treatment and rehabilitation planning, potentially reducing stroke-related aftereffects.
The acquisition of this patent underscores JLK’s expertise in brain-focused AI technologies and supports its ongoing commitment to advancing research and development to benefit both patients and healthcare providers.
