Hilo Launches Blood Pressure Health System in the US

22 July 2026

Hilo, a health technology brand developed by Aktiia, has launched Hilo Core in the United States, describing it as the world's first blood pressure health system designed to provide long-term blood pressure insights rather than occasional measurements.

The system aims to improve the monitoring of cardiovascular health by replacing single-point blood pressure readings with continuous trend analysis. According to the company, the platform helps users and healthcare professionals better understand blood pressure patterns over time, supporting earlier identification of potential health risks.

Originally developed in Switzerland, Hilo's technology is backed by more than 20 years of research and has been validated through eight clinical studies. The platform is already used by more than 200,000 people worldwide. The US launch comes as high blood pressure continues to affect a large proportion of adults, many of whom remain undiagnosed or undertreated.

Hilo Core combines a wearable wristband, a mobile application and an FDA-cleared connected blood pressure cuff. The system uses proprietary optical blood pressure monitoring (OBPM®) technology to estimate blood pressure from wrist-based photoplethysmographic (PPG) signals. Periodic cuff measurements are used to calibrate the device, allowing it to generate approximately 30 to 35 blood pressure readings each day, including overnight measurements.

The platform also integrates data such as sleep, heart rate and daily activity to provide users with a broader view of their cardiovascular health and lifestyle patterns.

According to Hilo, a real-world study involving more than 30,000 users found that higher engagement with the company's European application was associated with greater reductions in systolic blood pressure over six months.

The company said Hilo Core is currently positioned as a wellness product to support health awareness and lifestyle management, with plans to expand into a regulated medical platform in the future.

Hilo also announced that it has secured a $19 million extension to its Series B funding round, increasing its total funding to more than $119 million. The investment included participation from Dell Family Office alongside existing investors.

Hilo Core became available across the United States from 21 July 2026 through the company's website and Amazon. The hardware is priced at $89.99, with an annual subscription costing $149.99, bringing the total first-year cost to $239.98. The system is also eligible for Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) purchases.
