HemoSonics Earns Spot on Deloitte Technology Fast 500? for Transformative Innovations in Bleeding Management

26 November 2024

HemoSonics, LLC, a medical device company specialising in acute bleeding management, has been ranked 453rd on the Deloitte Technology Fast 500™, a list recognising the fastest-growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences, fintech, and energy technology companies in North America.

Now in its 30th year, the ranking highlights companies with significant revenue growth from 2020 to 2023. During this period, HemoSonics more than doubled its revenue, making it one of eight companies in North Carolina to be included on this prestigious list. Deloitte honours less than 1% of privately held US companies annually.

HemoSonics is known for its Quantra Hemostasis System, which includes the Quantra Hemostasis Analyzer and QPlus and QStat Cartridges. This system offers clinicians rapid, comprehensive analysis of whole-blood coagulation, aiding in the management of acute bleeding.

Using proprietary SEER Sonorheometry (Sonic Estimation of Elasticity via Resonance), the system employs advanced ultrasound technology to assess coagulation properties in under 15 minutes. It supports applications in cardiovascular surgery, trauma care, liver transplantation, and major orthopaedic surgery, offering point-of-care and laboratory settings.

The Quantra System is FDA-cleared, designed for ease of use and low maintenance, and helps hospitals standardise viscoelastic testing programs, improving both clinical and operational efficiency.

The Deloitte Technology Fast 500 programme celebrates companies driving innovation and achieving significant growth. To qualify, businesses must own proprietary technology that generates the majority of their operating revenues, with base-year revenues of at least $50,000 and current-year revenues of $5 million or more.

This year's ranking highlighted the strength of the life sciences sector alongside notable growth in software and fintech industries. Additionally, private companies featured prominently, reflecting their strong performance in driving technological progress.
