Guardant Health Presents Data at ACG 2024 on Blood-Based Testing to Improve Colorectal Cancer Screening Compliance

29 October 2024

Guardant Health, a leader in precision oncology, announced new data highlighting the importance of blood-based testing to improve adherence to colorectal cancer (CRC) screening. Findings will be shared at the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) 2024 Annual Meeting, held in Philadelphia from Oct. 25-30, 2024.

The company, alongside its research collaborators, examined real-world data indicating low compliance with repeat stool-based CRC screening.

A study of over 350,000 patients showed that fewer than half adhered to the recommended follow-up screenings within four years, underscoring the need for alternative options to increase overall screening compliance.

Additional findings from Guardant’s ECLIPSE study will also be presented, focusing on the implications of "false positive" results in one-year outcomes for individuals tested with Guardant’s Shield™ blood test for CRC screening.

Results showed no significant difference in the rate of non-colorectal cancers between those who received positive Shield results and those with negative results.

These insights support blood-based testing as a potential tool to enhance CRC screening rates, especially for individuals who may prefer a less invasive screening option.
