Forma Medical Treats 15th Patient with OptimalMTP? Minimally Invasive System
7 September 2024
Forma Medical, a leader in innovative orthopedic solutions, is excited to announce the successful treatment of its 15th patient using the OptimalMTP system.
Following a limited release that began in August, Forma is set to move forward with the broad commercialization of this pioneering system.
The OptimalMTP system is the first of its kind: a minimally invasive plate and screw solution for fusing the first metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint.
This system represents a major breakthrough in orthopedic surgery by providing a reliable and reproducible method for minimally invasive procedures on the first MTP joint. Historically, the biomechanical advantages of plate and screw systems were limited to more invasive surgeries.
The OptimalMTP system now enables surgeons to achieve these biomechanical benefits while also offering patients the advantages of minimally invasive surgery.
“Successfully treating our 15th patient highlights the rapid innovation at Forma,” said Andrew C. Davison, President of Forma Medical. “Our mission is to provide surgeons with advanced tools that improve patient outcomes, and the OptimalMTP system is a prime example of how technology can enhance traditional surgical techniques.”
Forma Medical will present the OptimalMTP system and other innovative minimally invasive surgical products at the American Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) Annual Meeting in Vancouver next week.
As part of their commitment to continuing education and advancing surgical techniques, Forma will offer hands-on training sessions in wet labs for attending surgeons.
