Emory Healthcare and Andor Health Unite to Provide Innovative AI-Enhanced Virtual Inpatient Monitoring Services

7 November 2023

Emory Healthcare and Andor Health have joined hands to introduce an advanced solution aimed at enhancing patient safety in hospital settings. This innovative inpatient monitoring system offers an additional layer of safety measures for patients who require additional supervision and care. Andor Health, a company specializing in AI-driven virtual care solutions, has developed ThinkAndor®, a platform designed to equip healthcare teams with pertinent clinical information. By utilizing generative AI, ThinkAndor® accesses data from various systems, including ambient listening and real-time visualization, to identify common safety risks such as falls, self-harm, and elopement.

Emory Healthcare, a prominent academic health system in Georgia, is set to launch a pilot program in November at two of its hospitals. The program involves the remote monitoring of at-risk patients in medical and surgical units, as well as emergency departments. Given the ongoing challenges with healthcare staffing shortages, this technology solution enables AI-driven patient observation, allowing healthcare professionals to allocate more time to direct patient care.

In the first year of their collaboration, Emory Healthcare plans to implement Andor Health's virtual patient observer technology in 32 inpatient rooms, with an additional 50 rooms set to be equipped in the following year. Andor Health's virtual observers, collaborating with registered nurses from a central control center, utilize voice activation technology to communicate remotely with at-risk patients. They can offer reminders to stay in bed, prompt patients to call for assistance, and provide guidance, all while immediately alerting Emory Healthcare staff on-site of any safety concerns. This monitoring service operates 24/7, ensuring continuous vigilance.
