Cumulus Neuroscience and The Digital Medicine Society (DiMe) Collaborate to Advance Digital Endpoints in Clinical Trials

12 June 2024

Cumulus Neuroscience, a leading global digital health company specializing in advancing neuroscience clinical trials and patient care through enhanced data, has partnered with the Digital Health Measurement Collaborative Community (DATAcc) by the Digital Medicine Society (DiMe).

Together, they will participate in the "Building the Business Case for Digital Endpoints" project under DATAcc by DiMe. This collaborative effort aims to establish industry benchmarks for evaluating the return on investment (ROI) of digital endpoints in drug development, medical device creation, and other regulated interventions.

The project will produce valuable resources including a value framework, benchmarking tools, ROI forecasting models, and a modular template to assist innovators in making the business case for digital endpoints.

The significance of digital measures in clinical research and the challenges they face in adoption. She emphasized DiMe's commitment to advancing digital health measures to improve lives and welcomed the contribution of partners like Cumulus Neuroscience.

Cumulus had previously participated in the "Library of Digital Endpoints" project, which established a unique library focused on industry-sponsored studies of new medical products or applications. This resource, continually updated and maintained by DATAcc partners, serves as a valuable reference for the industry.

Building on this foundation, Cumulus collaborated with other stakeholders to conduct a landscape analysis, identifying digital health technologies for Alzheimer's disease and related dementia populations. Their findings were published in the June 2024 issue of the Journal of Prevention of Alzheimer's Disease.

The limitations of traditional pen and paper assessments in CNS clinical studies, which lack objective physiological data. He stressed the importance of digital endpoints in addressing these challenges and supporting drug effect evaluation and patient stratification.

Cumulus works closely with digital endpoint champions in biopharma companies to advance the acceptance and utilization of digital endpoints across therapeutic areas.

Through its innovative solutions, Cumulus supports precision in CNS clinical trials by enabling in-clinic and remote patient monitoring across various domains of brain function.
