Cornerstone Robotics has entered into a strategic partnership with Medtronic to expand access to robotic-assisted surgery in international markets. As part of the agreement, Medtronic will make an investment of approximately US$700 million in Cornerstone Robotics and will receive distribution rights for the company's Sentire™ surgical system in selected markets outside the US where the system has received regulatory approval.

The partnership combines Cornerstone Robotics' surgical robotics technology with Medtronic's global healthcare presence. The companies aim to increase the availability of robotic-assisted surgery and minimally invasive procedures for healthcare providers and patients worldwide.

Cornerstone Robotics develops its surgical robotics technology through in-house research and development. Its capabilities cover hardware, control software, algorithms, imaging and energy platforms, allowing the company to manage product integration, quality and supply chain operations.

The Sentire™ surgical system received approval from China's National Medical Products Administration in 2024. In May 2026, the system received CE Mark approval in the European Union and approval from Singapore's Health Sciences Authority. The approvals cover minimally invasive general, gynaecological, thoracic and urological surgical procedures.

Under the partnership, Medtronic will support the international distribution of Sentire™ in selected approved markets. The agreement is expected to strengthen Cornerstone Robotics' ability to scale its technology while expanding Medtronic's range of robotic-assisted surgical solutions.

The collaboration represents a step towards wider adoption of robotic-assisted surgery by combining Cornerstone Robotics' technology development capabilities with Medtronic's international commercial reach.
