Concord Healthcare Secures Approval for Proton Therapy Equipment Registration Certificate

9 December 2024

Concord Medical Services Holdings Limited, a healthcare provider specialising in cancer care, research, education, and prevention in China, has announced that the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) of the People’s Republic of China has approved the Registration Certificate for Medical Device for proton therapy equipment.

This application was submitted by the Company’s equipment supplier on 6 December 2024.

As outlined in the Company’s 2023 annual report, Guangzhou Concord Cancer Centre, a subsidiary of Concord Medical in China, installed the proton therapy equipment in September 2020.

A clinical trial for the technology began in November 2022. In September 2024, the Guangzhou centre obtained a large medical equipment procurement licence for this equipment.

Following the Registration Certificate approval, the centre plans to launch proton therapy treatment services once all necessary preparations are completed.

Concord Healthcare Group Co., Ltd., another subsidiary of Concord Medical listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (stock code 2453.HK), has also confirmed the approval of the Registration Certificate.

Earlier this year, in January 2024, Concord Healthcare’s H shares were successfully listed on the exchange. Further details about its activities are available on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange website.
