Collaborative Progress: Gustave Roussy and Lifen Establish Strategic Partnership to Advance Oncology Research with Artificial Intelligence

12 December 2023

Gustave Roussy, a leading cancer center in Europe and ranked fourth globally, has joined forces with Lifen, an AI and e-health solutions startup, to announce the formalization of an agreement aimed at simplifying and expediting clinical research projects. Recognizing the essential role of extensive medical databases in advancing clinical research, they address the inherent complexity in data structuring.

In tackling these challenges, Lifen introduces an innovative solution that empowers partner institutions to continuously analyze medical reports, identifying eligible patients for research projects and efficiently structuring the data. The information undergoes constant updates with the inclusion of new data from medical records, ensuring research teams have access to the most recent information without the need for additional manual intervention. The efficacy of this solution was evidenced in a study comparing the consistency between manually and automatically entered patient information, involving over 7,200 data points.

Among the diverse array of planned research endeavors, the initial focus lies on the LuCCC (Lung cancer Cohort Consortium using Cloud technology) project. This project seeks to establish a preeminent database on lung cancer in France, with a goal of incorporating 5,000 patients by the close of 2024 across multiple investigative centers. The analysis will delve into the care pathway, exploring over 150 criteria. This newfound ability to swiftly include a substantial number of patients in research projects presents novel opportunities for advancing knowledge and treatments in the realm of lung cancer.
