Centreline Biomedical Marks Milestone with First Clinical Use of 6Fr Viewpoint? Catheter at University of Virginia Health

20 November 2024

Centerline Biomedical, Inc., a leader in cardiovascular navigation and imaging technologies, has confirmed the first on-label use of its 6Fr Viewpoint Catheter. The procedure was conducted at the University of Virginia Health System, showcasing the device's capabilities in endovascular surgery.

As part of the Intra-Operative Positioning System (IOPS®) platform, the Viewpoint Catheter enabled 3D visualisation of the aortic anatomy and endograft. This advanced imaging supported precise and efficient cannulation of the contralateral EVAR gate, streamlining the procedure.

The catheter, the newest addition to Centerline's IOPS portfolio, is specifically designed for minimally invasive cardiovascular procedures. It aims to reduce the reliance on traditional x-ray fluoroscopy, which is associated with radiation exposure. With multiple tip shapes and lengths available, the catheter incorporates electromagnetic tracking technology to support real-time navigation.

The IOPS platform uses specialised software to create 3D maps of vascular structures, offering detailed visualisation and navigation during procedures. This innovation enhances precision, simplifies access to surgical targets, and reduces radiation risks for clinicians.

Centerline is set to present the Viewpoint Catheter at the 2024 VEITHSymposium in New York, providing an opportunity for clinicians to explore this cutting-edge solution for endovascular imaging and navigation.
