Catholic Medical Center and HCA Healthcare Move Forward with Strategic Partnership

6 July 2024

Catholic Medical Center (CMC) has announced its entry into an Asset Purchase Agreement with an HCA Healthcare subsidiary, initiating the regulatory review process with the NH Attorney General’s Office.

This move aims to sustain CMC's high-quality Catholic healthcare services in the Manchester community while upholding its mission of health, healing, and hope.

Since signing the Letter of Intent last fall, leadership from CMC, HCA Healthcare, and the Diocese of Manchester have engaged in thorough due diligence to reach a final agreement for CMC to join HCA Healthcare.

“This agreement is the result of months of due diligence, thoughtful negotiations between our organizations, and discussions with the local community about how we can best serve them,” stated, President and CEO of CMC.

“In addition to embracing our Catholic mission, HCA is committed to healthcare excellence, community service, and investing in our people and facilities.

With three hospitals and four decades of providing healthcare services to the state, we are confident HCA will continue CMC’s mission of offering health, healing, and hope to the Manchester community for decades to come.”

During the transition, CMC will maintain its dedication to excellent patient care as it has for the past 50 years. HCA Healthcare will work with CMC leaders to finalize the integration plans upon successful closing. Throughout the regulatory review and integration process, CMC will continue its normal operations.

Statement from the Most Reverend Peter A. Libasci, D.D., Bishop of Manchester: “This is a significant moment in the history of Catholic Medical Center’s ongoing ministry and its delivery of high-quality, authentically Catholic healthcare.

This professional and faithful service to the Greater Manchester area is well-recognized in the community, as evident from its presence on Manchester’s West Side.

Consequently, CMC enjoys the same oversight of its Catholic identity and mission by the Bishop of Manchester as was established by its earliest leader, Monsignor Pierre Hevey.

The continued mission of Catholic Medical Center is advancing to enrich healthcare delivery within a framework of Catholic beliefs, ethics, and morals."
