Bruker Introduces OptoVolt?: Advancing Neural Circuit Imaging with Unmatched Speed and Precision
7 October 2024
At the Neuroscience 2024 conference, Bruker Corporation (Nasdaq: BRKR) unveiled the OptoVolt™ module, designed to enhance neuroscience research capabilities on the Ultima multiphoton microscope platform.
The new module increases imaging speeds to over 1,000 frames per second, allowing researchers to capture the millisecond dynamics of neural communication between cells.
With the growing use of fluorescent voltage indicators, OptoVolt offers the ability to measure neural activity with greater temporal precision than previously possible with traditional calcium indicators.
The OptoVolt module addresses the challenges associated with voltage imaging by incorporating scanner technology capable of operating at ultrafast speeds and delivering the signal-to-noise ratio needed to detect individual neural events.
When combined with Bruker’s NeuraLight 3D Ultra® spatial light modulator (SLM), researchers can achieve 3D optogenetic activation, enabling the exploration of neural input-output relationships with exceptional temporal and spatial accuracy.
Bruker highlights that this advancement in neural circuit imaging offers unparalleled imaging speed and performance, supporting the detection of neural events at the resolution of single neurons.
The OptoVolt module builds on the versatility of the Ultima 2Pplus platform, providing an ideal solution for cutting-edge all-optical neuroscience research.
