This advanced laboratory solution aims to enhance patient convenience and provide high-quality testing in accessible settings.

The collaboration began in 2019 with the goal of transforming blood testing to make it more accessible and less invasive. Due to rapid growth, Babson implemented Orchard® Enterprise Lab™, which offers flexibility and configurability to support various laboratory workflows.

This adaptability is essential for Babson's unique laboratory operations. Additionally, Babson partnered with Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) to develop the FDA-cleared BD MiniDraw™ Capillary Blood Collection System, which requires only about one-tenth the blood typically needed for a venous draw.

By providing alternatives to traditional blood collection, Babson enables testing at convenient locations such as pharmacies, aiming to inspire patients to seek necessary care through a better experience and easily understandable results.

Samples collected at pharmacies are analyzed at Babson’s centralized lab using conventional laboratory equipment. Orchard’s solutions support this process with features like sample tracking and rapid result reporting.

BetterWay redefines blood testing by offering convenient fingertip collection at local pharmacies. Available now in Austin, TX, the service emphasizes a customer-friendly experience, where pharmacy staff collect small samples instead of larger blood vials.

Customers can choose to self-order tests or request them through their doctors. BetterWay ensures access to routine testing with affordable self-pay and insurance options; tests are eligible for coverage by insurance and FSA/HSA.
