Ascom Clinical Alarm and Alert Management Platform Listed in Epic Toolbox

1 October 2026

Ascom’s Clinical Alarm and Alert Management platform has been listed in Epic Toolbox for Alert Manager, supporting the company’s focus on connected and interoperable care for acute care hospitals across North America.

Ascom provides healthcare communication and workflow solutions to more than 8,500 hospitals worldwide. Its solutions are used by around 40% of academic medical centres and US Magnet hospitals.

The Epic Toolbox listing confirms the platform’s ability to integrate with Epic workflows. It also supports healthcare organisations as they work to connect clinical systems and improve communication between care teams.

The Ascom Healthcare Platform uses industry-standard WCTP communication protocols and follows the IHE Alarm Communication Management Patient Care Device protocols. It also meets the requirements of the Epic Toolbox Alert Manager Blueprint.

These capabilities enable two-way alarm communication with Epic applications, including Hyperspace, Rover, Haiku and Canto. Integration with Epic electronic health record (EHR) data, including admission, discharge and transfer (ADT) information and care team assignments, provides additional context. This helps route alerts to the appropriate caregivers at the right time.

The platform uses a vendor-neutral approach and can connect with a wide range of medical devices and clinical systems. It can receive device parameters, alarms and waveform data from external sources.

Smart alarm rules can filter, redirect and escalate relevant alerts. This is designed to help reduce alarm fatigue and support faster clinical responses. Priority levels, colours and tones from the original systems are also retained to provide consistent information for caregivers.

The Epic Toolbox listing further supports Ascom’s approach to integrating clinical communication, alarm management and electronic health record systems within connected care environments.
