AAEON and Insign Medical Technology Collaborate to Revolutionize AI-Enhanced Endoscopic Solutions

5 July 2024

AAEON (Stock Code: 6579), a prominent designer and manufacturer of AI Edge solutions, has partnered with Insign Medical Technology Inc. to create an advanced AI-assisted colonoscopy system called ‘EndoDASS’.

This innovative solution utilizes AI technology to assist gastroenterologists in detecting potentially malignant lesions, significantly improving the accuracy and safety of colonoscopy procedures.

Insign Medical Technology Inc., known for its disposable endoscopes and related medical equipment, serves both large medical centers and smaller clinics.

The collaboration integrates AAEON’s BOXER-8641AI Fanless Embedded AI System with Insign’s software, leveraging convolutional neural networks (CNNs), 3D imaging, and data augmentation to provide a detailed view of the colon.

The high computational demands of 3D imaging are met by the BOXER-8641AI, powered by the NVIDIA® Jetson AGX Orin™ platform, enabling real-time image analysis.

The AAEON BOXER-8641AI, featuring the NVIDIA® Jetson AGX Orin™ module, brings advanced AI applications to the forefront.

This module excels in real-time object detection, accelerated data transmission, and robust performance in challenging environments. Equipped with an 8-core ARM v8.2 64-bit CPU and the NVIDIA Ampere architecture, the BOXER-8641AI includes 1792 CUDA and 56 Tensor cores, offering advanced deep learning capabilities.

Additionally, the system boasts two high-speed Ethernet ports, three USB 3.2 ports, and up to 64GB of LPDDR5x system memory, ensuring fast data transmission with cameras and sensors, making it an ideal AI edge computing solution.

"The endoscopy system market has been traditionally dominated by European and Japanese companies, but the demand for disposable endoscopes has surged post-pandemic.

Recognizing this, Insign partnered with AAEON to develop a cost-effective, high-performance endoscopy assistance system," said Kevin Chang, Vice President of AI Solutions at Insign Medical Technology Inc.

"Using disposable colonoscopes for detecting inflammation, tumors, ulcers, or polyps is safe and hygienic, eliminating the risks of cross-infection and reducing cleaning costs, thus lowering procurement expenses for hospitals," Chang added.

"AAEON, a leader in AI edge computing solutions and a member of the NVIDIA Partner Network, is proud to collaborate with Insign to launch this AI-assisted colonoscopy system.

This partnership not only reduces procurement costs for users but also provides doctors with more data for optimal treatment plans, enhancing detection speed and accuracy during gastrointestinal examinations.

This marks a significant advancement in medical assistive equipment, using AI technology to identify even the smallest lesions, benefiting the general public."
