Epi-Fix
Epi-Fix is a sterile securement device for securing epidural catheters for up to 5 days. The distinctive foam support prevents the catheter from kinking at the puncture site. It also eliminates accidental movement by effectively locking it in place around a curve in the foam.
The high permeability of Epi-Fix’s transparent window component (approx. 2,000g/m2/24h/37°c) minimizes moisture build up under the dressing, which in turn not only prevents the excessive growth of microorganisms, but also the occurrence of skin maceration.
Minimal risk of contamination
Epi-Fix’s low profile and non-woven frame keeps the device firmly fixed to the patient’s skin, helping protect the puncture site from external contamination.
Easy inspection of puncture site
The transparent window component is impermeable to both bacteria and water, plus ensures that the puncture site and the catheter’s position can be easily monitored at all times.
Optimum patient comfort
Epi-Fix gives the patient greater comfort and freedom of movement. It can be worn under clothing and also allows the patient to lie on it without kinking the catheter or creating pressure points.
Cost effective
The reduced risk of catheter movement and migration, plus its sheer durability make Epi-Fix a cost effective and time saving device.
Easy application
Epi-Fix is easy to apply without moving the catheter. It has a 3-step application process, which is illustrated on the packing and backing paper of each device.

Cathy™
Filter-protected closed suction system
Cathy™ offers the most advanced technology in closed suction systems. Closed endotracheal suction systems have long been the preferred choice of healthcare providers, as they reduce airborne environmental bacterial contamination and subsequent health hazards, including eye infection. Now, Unomedical has taken the concept a step further by providing a true, closed system that incorporates a built-in filter to reduce the risk of cross-contamination during use.
Cathy™ has a fully integrated filter at the distal end of the protective sleeve, which effectively prevents any bacterial flora from being expelled when the sleeve is contracted during catheter insertion.
Thanks to Cathy’s™ innovative design, using Cathy™ is easy. At the same time, Cathy™ provides far greater safety and convenience for patients and healthcare staff than conventional open suction systems.
Choosing the correct closed suction system
Perhaps one of the greatest advantages of closed endotracheal suction systems is that there is only a slight reduction of PEEP during use. However, if an inappropriate catheter size is used, intrinsic PEEP can actually increase.
The correct catheter size enables air to flow between the catheter and the ET or TT tube and / or the tracheal wall. In general, the outer diameter of the catheter should not exceed half the inner diameter of the ET or TT tube.
